Dear Parents and Carers,
We welcome to our new student, Tony, into Year 5, it is great to have new students at St Pat's and supporting them to get to know about learning and life in our school.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all parents, carers, students and family members who came to our 'A Taste of St Pat's' Multicultural Expo last Friday afternoon. Your participation made the event the resounding success it was.
Thanks to all the families who cooked / baked some delicious food for us to savour during the event. What a feast from our own backyard with our Koori kids making Johnnie cake and syrup treats, to fare from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Malta, Philippines and Vietnam. We hope you were able to enjoy a favourite and try one or two new tastes.
Here are a few photos of our wonderful celebration
How is the home reading going? Daily reading for your child is very important. Thank you for reminding, and encouraging, and supporting your child to read every day. Thank you for taking out a book and showing them that you value reading too!
I have been in Canberra Wednesday to Friday this week meeting with principal colleagues in our Southern Region, and colleagues from across the Archdiocese. We have spend time learning from educators local and global and reflecting on next steps for each and all of our schools.
See you next week.
Blessings,
Jo

Advice for Parents & Carers regarding Personalised Plans
INTRODUCTION
Personalised Plans are used by teachers to support and record adjustments provided to students so that all students have the opportunity to access and participate in learning on the same basis as their peers. The Personalised Planning tool, through Catholic Schools NSW NETiD, is used by all CECG schools as the basis for individual planning for students who require adjustments to support their learning. The Personalised Planning tool is integral to the work of our schools in supporting and making adjustments for students.
In 2022 a review of the CSNSW Personalised Planning process was undertaken by Dr David Evans. If you would like to read more about the scope of the project, please follow this link: David Evans review of Personalised Plans
REDEVELOPMENT OF PERSONALISED PLAN FORMAT
During 2022 and 2023 development of a new and modern plan was undertaken by CSNSW to ensure a planning tool that aligns with evidence-based approaches to personalised planning for students. The redevelopment process included extensive consultation and testing with key stakeholders including parents and teachers. The plan now better aligns with the personalised learning process and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) processes.
In August 2024, CSNSW launched the redeveloped Personalised Planning tool that includes the following enhancements:
- Less duplication of information
- Elimination of clunky user issues
- Simplicity of design and functionality
- Options for reporting to parents.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR PARENTS AND CARERS?
While the change in format is welcome, it will require significant time and expertise from Classroom Support Teachers, Inclusive Education Coordinators and teachers in updating existing Personalised Plans. During Term 4, teachers will commence the process of updating all Personalised Plans to the redeveloped format. For some schools, the updating may need to carry over to the start of 2025, due to the number of Personalised Plans. This may mean that your child’s Personalised Plan may not be sent home in Term 4. Please note that your child’s Personalised Plan will be updated as soon as practicable.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.

Day for Daniel

Crazy Sock Day
On Wednesday, we will be holding a crazy sock day to raise money for Catholic Mission.
Catholic Mission plays a vital role, embodying the spirit of service, compassion, and outreaching. Their remarkable work extends across continents, providing support to those in need. Catholic Mission aids in the construction of schools, hospitals, and community centres, ensuring access to education, healthcare, and essential services for countless individuals.
By supporting Catholic Mission, we contribute to their life-changing projects, empowering communities and spreading hope.
We look forward to seeing many CRAZY socks!
Term 4 has only just commenced, but already we have had some St Pat's kids competing at very high levels of competition.
Last week, Will Nicholson travelled to Armidale to play in the selected MacKillop cricket team. Will was chosen in this team earlier in the year. The wide area our archdiocese covers, doesn't allow for any real team practice as the boys come from all over southern NSW. Our city cousins are not only close together, they also have state of the art training facilities. The MacKillop team was very strong and won the two days of competition. Will was playing as a wicketkeeper. The state team that was chosen from these two days of competition were all year 6 boys. Will is only in year 5 and will have the same opportunity next year. With an extra year of experience and knowing Will's diligence to excel and succeed in what ever he does, I think he will have a great chance of making the state cricket team next year. Will was also selected in the 11-year old rugby league team at this same elite level. Well done, Will!
This week we have had Amelia Inwood in Sydney competing at the NSW All Schools competition. Catholic, Independent and public schools all compete together for a state team. Amelia won the 13 yr 100m event in Sydney last term and returned home with a gold medal. She was back in Sydney this week for the two day event. On Wednesday, Milly competed in her heat. There were three heats, with the first 2 competitors moving onto the semi finals. Amelia ran second in her heat which put her into the semi finals the next day. Yesterday, she competed in the semi final with the fastest 10 moving onto the final. Milly placed in this and made the final 10. This was a very exciting final with Milly missing 3rd by .20 of a second. What a great effort, Milly! You are the 4th fastest 13yr old girl in NSW at primary school. At the 2 day event, there were over 2 000 children competing from over 900 schools across NSW. With modern technology, it was such a bonus for Milly's class mates to watch her on the big screen back in Bega. I believe the noise was deafening.
We are so proud of both of our St Pat's students for their achievements.
As well as these 2 St Pat's kids we have had a good number of kids who have made representative teams this year. A great achievement for a little school way down on the south coast.
