We remember Noa on 'Jersey for Noa' day on Friday 4th August.
This term other events include the public speaking competition for students in Year 3-6, the Life Education Van visit in Week 6, and Aleeta teaching us in Week 7 to prepare us for the school dance concert in Week 9.

Thank you to the Community Council In recent months we have been able to install new bench seating for the senior students, water refill stations for both top and bottom areas of the school, and now the long awaited junior monkey bars. The financial contribution from the Community Council has made these purchases possible. Thank you to the fundraising committee and to all the parents and families who have attended, assisted, supported all the school fundraising ventures!

Supporting Students
As a new term begins we review student goals in Personalised Plans.
Here is some information from the NCCD about Personalised learning and support:
Every student has their own aspirations, learning needs, strengths and interests and it is the responsibility of schools to respond to every student, and their unique characteristics, with high expectations for achievement. Providing personalised learning and targeted support is one way to achieve this.
What is personalised learning and support?
There are four elements in personalised learning, which reflects the teaching and learning cycle:
- consulting and collaborating with the student and/or their parents, guardians or carers
- assessing and identifying the needs of the student
- providing adjustments to address the identified needs of the student
- monitoring and reviewing the impact of adjustments.
In the coming weeks teachers will touch base with parents as needed to ensure all students are successful at school.

In Religious Education at St Pat’s, we follow a knowledge rich curriculum that explores religion through the four key strands of ‘Sacred Texts’, ‘Beliefs’, ‘Church’ and ‘Christian Life’. Every term, Religious Education in each Stage is closely integrated with the MAPPEN unit of learning. In Term Three, students will be exploring concepts of social justice. This concept will be shared throughout student’s learning, as they learn about community and how we help each other to live happily and safely together, for the good of all. Students will learn about Jesus’ life and his messages and will explore how these can be applied to how we live today. Each stage will look at different aspects of our school and church community and will engage in exploring scriptures and prayer relevant to their stage of learning.
From the Curriculum Coordinator
PDHPE is one of our key learning areas in the curriculum and includes developing and refining movement skills. Yesterday, our students were able to practice these skills as they participated in field and track events. See below for an overview of the day from two of our senior students.
The Athletics Carnival by Sophie
On Thursday, we had our sports carnival. Some of the events included High Jump, Long Jump and Discus. I would say that the most enjoyable event was the High Jump. We all had lots of fun. While we were doing the activities, a lot of people were cheering everyone on and showing a lot of sportsmanship.
The Athletics Carnival by Hannah
On Thursday the 20th of July, students from Year 3 up to Year 6 had their Athletics Carnival. The activities were Discus, High jump, Shot put and Long jump. There were also 800 metre races, 200 metre and 100 metre races. A lot of people participated in the activities and had good sportsmanship and didn’t care if they won or lost.
On Thursday, our Year 6 students spent time reading with their buddies. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon after a busy day of athletics.
The rain held off, the wind stayed away but the day started rather cold and it didn't get much warmer for our athletics carnival. This didn't deter our athletes and there were some great results recorded on the day. Points were tallied quickly so we could have our presentation before returning to school. The only unknown result at this stage is our winning house which will be presented at assembly next Tuesday.
Our age champions for this year are.
Senior boy and girl - Drew Duncan and Eva Ridley
11 years boy and girl - Aidan Green and Arly Schrader
Junior boy and girl - Archie Sly and tie for the girls between Isabella Clifton-Collins and Ally Sly.
Congratulations to these children and well done to those who tried their hardest in all events.
Thanks also to the parents and grandparents who helped out in anyway.
The Southern Region carnival will also be held in Bega on Wednesday 2nd August, with our school responsible for the running of the day. A BBQ and canteen will be running on the day and Mrs Collins will need a lot of help here! For those who aren't able to help in this way we will require some baking to be done with slices, muffins etc. Look out for notices regarding this and please respond if you are able. All money raised goes back to ALL the children not just our athletes.

Self-Care
Why take time for Self-Care?
Before we can help our children, we need to make sure we look after ourselves. It is so easy to put this at the bottom of our priority lists, especially following a very tough few years for the local and global community.
Taking some time out for ourselves helps us to be more empathetic, energetic and enthusiastic when it comes to being parents and carers as well as allowing us to set an example to our children that taking care of their physical and mental health is important.
So what can we do?
It is important to work out what suits you, everyone is different! Here are some simple ideas to get you started:
- Spend some time in nature
- Listen to music
- Read a book
- Take a relaxing shower or bath with no interruptions
- Spend some quality time with friends
- Take a break from electronics
- Take time to exercise
The key is finding what works for you. Don’t wait, fit something in today and see how it makes you feel!
