Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for making time to come to school for a parent teacher interview this week. It has been great to see so many parents making time to speak with your child's class teacher about Term 1, engagement and progress in learning. If you were unable to make an appointment this week, please email your child's teacher and they will work with you to book a mutually convenient time for a face to face or phone interview.
Year 6 Leadership
We were able to present Monique with her leadership badge at a morning assembly this week. Thank you for accepting responsibility as an Indigenous Leader at St Pat's Monique. We look forward to you working alongside Will with our Aboriginal Education Workers, Brytan Aldridge and Chantelle Dixon and leading initiatives and learning.
Celebrating Learning
Every day we celebrate behaviours for learning and learning achievement. It is great to be both in the classrooms and have visitors to my office to share learning.
Cold Days Happy Play
Uniform Policy
As the weather started to change these last few days, I would like to remind families about our Term 2/3 and Winter uniform policy. For the duration of Term 2 and 3 students can wear their winter uniform everyday, if they wish. Our policy is that EVERY STUDENT will wear their winter uniform for the months of Winter - June, July, August. The tangible difference between Summer and Winter uniform is that in Winter all students have navy blue legs. They are to wear the navy blue school trousers, or navy blue tights with the skort. Orders for winter uniform are available from the uniform shop with orders on Qkr!
Director's visit
Next Monday, Ross Fox, the Director of Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn will be visiting St Patrick's. Ross will meet with our Leadership Team and take a tour of the school. We look forward to showcasing some of the excellent learning and teaching in our school.

FROM THE REC AND SUPPORT TEACHER
Lent
St Pat's students have been focusing on Lent in Religious Education.
Fasting during Lent
During Lent, people are encouraged to fast. Fasting is the wilful refrainment from eating and sometimes drinking. The purpose of fasting is to make reparation for any wrongdoing but also to draw our attention to God, from whom all good things come. As well as food and drink, people can fast from certain activities such as watching TV or gaming.
Reflect on something that you can fast from during Lent. You may choose to do this for the whole six weeks of Lent or intermittently.
Ways to Pray - The Confiteor
The Confiteor is one of the prayers that can be said during the Penitential Act at the beginning of the Mass. It is also used in the Lutheran Church at the beginning of Divine Service and by some in the Anglican Church. It is an opportunity to seek God’s forgiveness for past sins. Lent is a time when we are asked to reflect on our behaviour and ask God’s forgiveness.
Let us Pray
I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done
and in what I have failed to do,
[All strike their breast three times]
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Cross Country
This Tuesday 5th April the school cross country will be held. The day will commence at 9.30 with the start and finish in Bega Park. The senior and middle primary children will return to school at recess and the Junior Primary children will commence their races in the park at midday. As this is a school event it is expected that all children will participate unless they have a note from a parent/guardian.
Parents are welcome to come along and support your children. The weather can be unpredictable at this time of year so make sure your child is prepared with sunscreen and hat or warmer clothing. Runners must provide their own drink bottle. Asthmatics should have their puffers and carry it with them during the race.
All children will need to wear their sports uniform on Tuesday.
Senior and middle primary children's sport day will be this Monday when they will walk the cross country course.
