Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has been a week of focussed learning for our students with many of them being recognised at morning assembly, and throughout learning and play, for demonstrating St Pat's Kids behaviours. I was thrilled to have many students come and visit me to share their learning journals, others shared when I visited their classrooms. Many students proudly show a growing number of St Pat's stickers that they have been awarded for their behaviours for learning and engagement.
Blessings on a family centred weekend.

Cooba outcomes are as important as the program itself. The Outdoor pursuits program chosen is the medium by which the outcomes of Team Building, Peer support, Self-esteem leadership skills are enhanced. Program leaders are focused on outcomes, not just on doing the activity.
Wadjiny
performed by Troy Allen
THE PERFORMER
Troy Allen, Bundjalung Goori (East Coast), grew up in the Mount Druitt community and his totem is Wadjiny, the platypus. The Bundjalung Nation of aboriginal people is the only one whose dreamtime stories talk about arriving in Australia from elsewhere. They came from a land “at the centre of the world” after it was destroyed by a massive catastrophe.
For over 25 years Troy has shared his unique skills and knowledge in Australia and internationally with students and at numerous festivals and cultural showcases.
THE PERFORMANCE
Next Wednesday our students will experience the Wadjiny performance.
Troy uses song, music and didgeridoo, dance, artefacts, examples of ancient rock and cave paintings and fire making demonstrations to tell the stories of his people.
This interactive cultural awareness programme is delivered in a fun and educational learning environment where Troy quickly builds rapport with students. He tailors the content to the age of his audience and all programmes are designed to be thought provoking and to encourage discussion of his rich and diverse culture.
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK!
At St Pat's we are focussing on building the learning attributes of collaboration, cooperation, listening and problem solving. Year 4/5 Yellow were focussing on these attributes this week. Students worked in groups to construct a structure that was 50cm wide and 60cm high. Students needed to collaborate on the design and then set about constructing within in 20 minute time frame. Photos below show the great collaboration between students to attain the criteria;

Ways to Pray - Prayer at St Pat's
Supporting Stundets with Anxiety
Yesterday 19 St Pat's students travelled to Narooma to compete in the Southern Region swimming carnival. The day started with great excitement when our senior girls relay team won the 1st event of the day. The senior boys followed up with a second as did the junior girls. The junior boys team was a very young team and they tried their hardest. These boys will mostly be juniors again next year.
As the day progressed many of our swimmers gained places and were selected in the Southern Region team. This team will compete in Queanbeyan for selection into the Archdiocesan swimming team. We have 13 children selected in the Southern Team.
Congratulations to the following children Henry Philipzen, Mia Gowing, Alice Johnson, Charlotte Hoskins, Arly Schrader, Monique Canavan, Lily and Chase Salway, Drew Duncan, Jordan Shepheard, Nate Irvin, Levi Dale and Eva Ridley. Well done to all who were part of our St Pat's team you were all a credit to our school!
Thank you to the families who have paid their term 1 fees.
Term 1 fees are due 16 March 2022, except those with direct debit arrangements.
If at any time your family is experiencing financial hardship due to Covid-19 or any other reason or your family is in need of other support, please contact the school to make a time for a confidential meeting with our Principal, Jo Scott-Pegum to discuss how the school can help support your family.
