Dear Parents and Carers,
In the BIG WET of recent days we have had to be flexible about play spaces. We had the whole school play ‘up top’ for a few play breaks and it was great to see the way in which the games morphed to suit the mixed ages and the limited space. We look forward to sunshine drying out the flats to resume play down there.
Does your child play an instrument or have a desire to learn an instrument? I had a visit from a member of the Bega District Band who asked if we had some students who may join the Bega All Ages Development (BAAD) Band. It is for ALL AGES and ALL ABILITIES. If your child is interested go and take a look!
Our Enrolling Now period continues through May and into June. Let your friends know to contact the office to book a time for a tour or enrolment interview.
This week we have seen many of siblings of current students attend their interview. We loved seeing Ava in her Future St Pat's Kid T-shirt. We love showing our new Kinders around the school and sharing in their joy and excitement about coming to school.
This year we are extending our BIG STEPS transition to school program to give children more opportunities to become familiar with school.
Next Week we celebrate National Volunteer Week with a Morning Tea on Thursday at 10.30am in the COLA. Everyone who volunteers in our school is invited! Please let the office know if you can come, phone 6492 5500. Bob and Deanna are two of our regular volunteers at St Pat's listening to children read. If you would like to be a volunteer in our school please make a time to do the volunteer induction - we are always looking for people to listen to children read, and other helpful jobs!
Blessings
Jo
STEM AT ST. PAT’S
This week our K-2 students designed and created bubble blowers using a variety of materials. Students had opportunity to explore bubble blowing and modify their bubble blowers to blow a variety of bubble sizes. Photos below show 2/3L with their handmade bubble makers creating bubbles and blowing through a straw to create bubble towers.
MUSIC AT ST PAT’S
Students in the Yr 3-6 space are enriched weekly through the Music program designed and taught by Mr Paul Bennett. Paul is passionate about engaging all students in the playing of a variety of instruments to perform a particular song.

Laudato Si'
In Religious Education students are learning about stewardship and caring for God's creation. This has included the introduction of rich literature during story time. This week we read The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be, a text that emphasises that we are all created in the image and likeness of God.
EMPOWERED PROGRAM
The Character Strength I would like to highlight this week is LOVE.
"Love is being loving, kind and thoughtful and trying your best to help others to feel better."
The students in the Empowered Program have been exploring the diferent ways to love and then during the week have been encouraged to be a "Strengths Spotter." This can happen at school, with friends, at home where they are looking for the people showing love in it many and varied forms.
Challenge: This weekend see if you can be Strengths Spotter looking for acts of love both big and small.
Students this week began to lead one of the nine calming strategies taught at St Pat's within their Empowered group.
PEER MEDIATION
Every week now on Mondays and Fridays two different grade five students roam the junior playground looking for students wo are being St Pat's Kids and handing out tokens while also helping the younger students come up with positive solutions to their disputes.
PASSION CLUBS
Abbie Murray led 13 students in their first dance club experience. All students followed Abbie as she took leadership sharing some of her choreography and asking other students for their ideas. I cannot wait to see next weeks moves!
ST PAT'S NEWS ON LOCATION
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday our resident news reporters Isobel and Nate roam the school sharing daily announcements. Log onto SEESAW or facebook to see what is happening.
Enjoy
