Dear Parents and Carers,
We really appreciate all you do to teach your children good manners and ways of respectfully interacting. What you teach them we continue to support and teach at school, both in the classroom and out at play!
What are BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING?
At St Patrick's our students are explicitly taught many behaviours associated with happy and strong engagement during learning and play. These behaviours are reinforced throughout primary school with great expectation that by senior primary our students have each of the behaviours. These behaviours can be taught and reinforced at home.
AT LEARNING
- Being prepared - all resources ready
- Active Listening - stop, look, listen
- Active engagement - try my best, ask questions for clarity and help
- Respond respectfully to instructions within expected timeframe
- Taking responsibility for * belongings * work completion * participation
- Respect the voice of others
- Written and verbal communication
AT PLAY
- Know the rules
- Follow the rules
- Welcome and include others
- Manage their personal competitive characteristics to level of the game
OTHER IMPORTANT SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT BEHAVIOURS
- Give my opinion respectfully, when asked
- Mind my own business
- Speak when it is my turn
Thank you for reinforcing these great behaviours.
Blessings,
Jo
At St Pat’s, we believe in making every minute count. Our learning focuses on the use of Direct Instruction techniques, to ensure students are not only learning, but also retaining new information. It is wonderful to walk around the school and see every student engaged in their learning, demonstrating focus and perseverance in their tasks.
There were many excited faces in the library this week, exploring the books available at our book fair. Daily reading is fundamental for developing fluency and building on decoding skills. The homework expectation at St Pat’s is that all students engage in 20 minutes reading a day. We have a huge selection of books at school and students are encouraged to borrow from the library regularly.
Chapel Mass
As part of the Religious Life of the school every class attends chapel mass throughout the term. Here are the upcoming classes. Parents are welcome to attend chapel mass at 9:15am in the church.

FROM THE CLASSROOM SUPPORT TEACHER
Lunchtime Clubs
At St Pat's we offer a range of lunchtime clubs.
Lunchtime clubs are an opportunity for students to have fun and interact with peers, including peers from different year levels, who have similar interests and passions. Lunchtime clubs are known to create benefits for students. For example:
- Improving social skills
- Increased friendships
- Promoting peer social acceptance
- Engagement in teamwork, co-operation and collaboration
- Opportunity to increase interests, knowledge and skills
- Increasing feeling of safety whilst at school
- Learning social cues and opportunity to practice social skills
Lunchtime clubs also benefit our wonderful staff by providing opportunities to work with different age groups, share their talents and skills, and get to know students outside of the classroom.
Please read the attached letter with important information about changes to the Finance Systems at St Patrick's.
We appreciate your support during this transition. If you have any questions,
