FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our ongoing Catalyst professional learning program, on Monday this week we enjoyed a visit from our CogLearn coach, Andrew Pirie. Andrew is working alongside the St Pat's teachers, in particular a cohort of 6 teachers, on High Impact Teaching Practices (HITP). The first practice Andrew is supporting teachers to master is Daily Review. Andrew visited classrooms to observe and give feedback, and then presented at our staff meeting.
The InitiaLit synthetic phonic program in K-2 and the Connecting Maths Concepts (CMC) program in senior primary both have Daily Review built into the direct instruction model of the program. Our teachers are developing their capacity to create and deliver high impact daily review processes each day.
On Monday our staff will continue their professional learning with the Catalyst Program, HITP initiatives focussing on The Writing Revolution and the CMC Maths Program.
Yesterday was National Sorry Day. Chantelle Dixon-Stewart, one of our AEW's helped our teachers and students to continue to deepen their learning about this. Some classes watched the story telling of the book Sorry Day by Trevor Jamieson, introduced by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. In support of our ongoing journey of reconciliation in Australia, I commend to you to share this story telling with your children.
Next week we celebration Reconciliation Week, the theme this year is Be Brave. Make Change.
Finally, I sincerely thank everyone in our community for your support today and on Monday with finding care arrangements for your children.
Blessings on a happy weekend.
