FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

WET WEATHER AT ST PAT’S

It is so lovely to have rain in the Bega Valley but you may be wondering what happens during breaks when students cannot access the playground due to the rain.

Our Kinder, Year 1 and 2 students are able to play in the COLA and Library with teacher supervision. Students enjoy quiet games or reading in the library. Students are happy to skip, play handball, draw or play lego in the COLA. Our senior students have the opportunity to enjoy a movie quietly in a classroom, play board and card games in another room or participate in Just Dance. Students are supervised during the break times. Here are some photos;

Reporting Semester 1

Our teachers have begun reviewing each student's progress this Semester in all of the curriculum areas and are in the process of allotting an A to E grade. Apart from Kinder who have a different grade scaling.

Comments will not be included in Semester 1 reports, however parents/carers will have the opportunity to meet with teachers during Week 9 and 10 to discuss the report going home and their child’s progress throughout the semester.

Parents/carers may book in via the School Interviews site from this Friday afternoon 4/6 (Code/details to be on Skoolbag) for a 10 minute interview to be conducted in Week 9 and 10.

Parents/carers can elect to have a face to face or phone conversations with teachers.

Booking will stay open for a week. Reports will go home to parents/carers on Monday June 21st.

Parent Class Contacts

As part of our endeavour to promote communication between home and school, build community spirit and to assist new families joining our school community, at least one Parent Contact is assigned to each class group.

During Term 3 and 4 the Parent Contact/s will coordinate a class social event for families to get together out of school and do something fun. The Parent Contact will support the welcoming of new families throughout the year, assisting them in getting to know other families and to feel part of the school community. This is another means of uniting the school and enhancing the quality of relationships within the school between teachers, parents/ carers and the students. We thank the parents who have volunteered for this role. We have representatives in all classes except 1/2F, 1/2M and 5/6C. Please contact the school if you would like to assist. All parent class contacts are required to complete a Volunteer Induction Session with the Assistant Principal and have a Working With Children Check done.

Chris Higgins (Mathematics Specialist from Catholic Education) visit

Today our Year 3-6 students will be working alongside Chris Higgins to build their capacity in implementing mathematics programs that are aligned with the NSW curriculum, challenging for all students and based on current research into the teaching and learning of Mathematics. Our Mathematics teaching programs are aligned with our school agreed practice and enriched through the text "Primary and Middle Years Mathematics" by Van De Walle.
