FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Carers,

The term is progressing well with busy classrooms and learners. Each day we work toward achieving our goals for strong student literacy and numeracy growth, and for differentiated teaching and learning for all students. We are looking forward to the reporting process and parent teacher interviews at the end of term.

This is a visual representation of our Annual School Goals.

Celebration of Learning in Week 10, on Tuesday 22nd June, we are planning a celebration and sharing of learning across the school. This event will be between 3.30 and 4.30pm. All classrooms will be open and your child will share with you aspects of their learning and some examples of their work in which they have taken great pride. BOOK IT IN YOUR CALENDAR!

InitiaLit My visits to Kinder early this week were filled with joy and wonder as our Kinder students grow their capacity as readers. The implementation of the InitiaLit K-2 synthetic phonic program is supporting strong literacy growth for our students.

MacqLit and Reading Tutor Mrs Guthrie and Mrs Tomlinson are busy each day implementing the Intensive Learning Support in English through the MacqLit and Reading Tutor programs. We are grateful to the additional funding that the government provided to ours and many schools for Covid recovery. We look forward to sharing the positive outcomes from this program.

Teaching and Learning Visitors this week

Religion on Monday and Tuesday we welcomed Lisa Mammoliti, Religious Education & Faith Formation Officer, from CE to work with our teachers on the Religious Education curriculum.

Mathematics today we welcomed Mr Chris Higgins, Senior Officer Teaching & Numeracy Specialist, from Catholic Education to work with our teachers on Mathematics curriculum and pedagogy. See more about this in Mrs Sheahan’s news.

BehaveAbility We continue to support our students growth in behaviours for learning and engagement. Ian Luscombe visited to continue his support and observations on Monday and Tuesday. Ian was an active presence in the classrooms and playgrounds and his feedback to our school was very positive. Our students are working each day to demonstrate expected ‘St Pat’s kids behaviours.’ Our brief morning assemblies help students settle for a day of learning. The out of class passes are being worn by all children who have permission to leave class. There is consistency of language of direction across the teaching team.

Thank you to the two parents who attended Ian’s parent session to support their children’s social growth. We hope you found the presentation helpful.

I look forward to seeing many families enjoying the disco this evening.
