Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Ash Wednesday and the start of the fasting Lenten season leading up to Easter. Students in 3/4 and 5/6 classes spent time on Tuesday learning about the history of Shrove Tuesday and the reasons that it is a significant day for Christians. They then finished their learning by making delicious pancakes!

Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday, students attended Mass for Ash Wednesday. It was lovely to be together in the church as a whole school, to each receive the ashes on our foreheads and mark the beginning of Lent.

Some simple Lent activities that you may like to engage in at home include;

• Praying together
• Giving up something as a family during the Lenten season
• Make a Lenten Cross, with candles to light at the dinner table during Lent
• Read the Bible together
• Participate in 40 acts of kindness over 40 days
